Real Experience Matters

In every election, voters are asked to make an important choice: who is best prepared to lead our town forward. Campaigns often focus on promises, slogans, or broad ideas—but when it comes to serving Oak Ridge, real experience matters.

Town Council is not a place to “learn on the job.” It requires an immediate understanding of how boards operate, how Rules of Procedure guide meetings, and how multiple departments and committees work together to serve residents. It requires the ability to read and interpret budgets, to ask the right questions, and to make decisions that affect every taxpayer in Oak Ridge.

When candidates step into this role without prior experience, they spend valuable time learning the basics—how meetings are run, how committees interact, how to navigate the complexities of town budgeting. That learning curve delays progress for the community. Oak Ridge deserves leaders who can contribute from day one.

I’ve had the privilege of serving our town for the past four years on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, including two years as co-chair. That service gave me direct, hands-on experience with how Oak Ridge operates—working with residents, engaging with committees, and helping shape the amenities that make our town special. Combined with decades of financial and business leadership, I bring the skills and knowledge needed to have an immediate, positive impact on Town Council.

I don’t need training. I don’t need time to “get up to speed.” I am ready to serve Oak Ridge now.

If you’d like to see the full depth of my background and service, I invite you to read my other blog posts where I’ve shared details about my experience, my record of fiscal stewardship, and my vision for Oak Ridge’s future.

At the end of the day, elections are about trust. And trust is earned through service, not slogans. Oak Ridge deserves leaders who are prepared, proven, and ready to get to work on day one.
